The students got their first taste of real Irish weather today. The sky was full of grey clouds and it rained for most of the day. After class today we took the bus into the city centre to visit Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.

Our group has become very friendly with a group of French students so I am happy to report that they are speaking a lot of English with their new friends. All of the students are also sharing their host family with students of different nationalities so English is being spoken at all times in the home.

This evening the students were looking forward to having a free evening. They needed some time to relax after their busy week.

The students have been really lucky with the weather since they arrived in Dublin – it’s been blue skies and high temperatures every day!

Some of the students learned a little bit of Irish culture today in English class by learning an Irish song. After class they went for a beach walk in the beautiful town of Dun Laoghaire which is on the outskirts of Dublin. They travelled there by train.

The journey home from Dun Laoghaire was a long one as I took them in the wrong direction on the train!!

Tonight the students are going to enjoy a night of dog racing.

Day 3 – 8 July 2014

Classes went well this morning – lots of speaking practice.

The host family provide the students with lunch each day which consists of a ham and cheese sandwich, crisps, fruit and some chocolate.

This afternoon was sports day. The students played volleyball, basketball, football and table tennis.

A disco has been organised for tonight. The students had mixed feeling about the disco as it would interrupt the World Cup!!
