I really can’t believe our luck with the weather we’re getting - it was another fabulous day! We had class as usual this morning and lunch as usual in the canteen. Afterwards we took the bus into town with some of the other students to visit St.Patrick's Cathedral.
We had some time to look around this beautiful building and some of the students took a guided tour where they learned about ex-presidents of Ireland and also where some of our colloquial expressions came from. For example, “to chance your arm” - which means to risk something - came from an argument between two prominent Irish families. A member of one of the families decided to risk getting his arm cut off when putting it out to shake hands with the other family to make peace!
After the cathedral the girls went home to have dinner with their families. In the evening some of the girls went to the disco organised by the school. They were very excited to get dressed up and to go out with their new friends!
